Man. The studio version of this song, I thought:

  1. If this were a Phoenix song, I wouldn’t think twice about it (good/bad)
  2. If this were a Foster the People song, I would dislike it.
  3. I have no flipping idea how to deal with this as a Coldplay song.

While I don’t go quite as far as Mr. Perpetua (below), the single-tracked vocal version they performed on Letterman made me feel a lot more like I know which side the universe butters its bread…

I really love this song. It’s like they cross-bred “All My Friends” with “Sleep the Clock Around,” but didn’t forget to still be swoony, corny old Coldplay while they were at it.
