So, I wrote about Lou Reed & Metallica’s hit album Lulu earlier, and I liked it!

The whole scuttlebutt on that album had been about how Lou Reed thought it was “maybe the best done thing by anyone, ever,” and others thought it was in the “Snakes on a Plane” neighborhood.

And that’s the thing. I did like listening to it! And I am going to buy it (though I probably will not purchase the LouTube), but let’s be real: I’m going to listen to this album like, 3 more times in my life. (Though I plan to bust out Junior Dad whenever I have 19 minutes and 29 seconds to spare).

But I was so primed for crazy disappointment (How would I tell my cat that his namesake made the worst album ever?) that it was almost impossible for the album to actually disappoint me. I came home and listened to some Lulu without the benefit of the diminished expectations. And it was good!

But man, listening to Lulu as an album I like is a really different experience than listening to Lulu as an album that terrifies me. Probably a worse one.
